In collaboration with our Exchange and the Ordu University Hazelnut Application and Research Center, an informational event titled “Pest Control in Stored Hazelnuts: Current Findings, Risks, and Solution Approaches” was held on December 3, 2025, for our exporting members.
Prior to the informational event presented by Dr. Yunus Emre Altunç, our board chairman Ziver KAHRAMAN gave a speech, saying:
“Today, we are gathered here with the Ordu University Hazelnut Application and Research Center to address a very important issue that directly concerns the future of our hazelnut sector:
“Pest Control in Stored Hazelnuts: Current Findings, Risks, and Solution Approaches.”
Such meetings are not only a sharing of knowledge but also the finest examples of university-sector collaboration. Because knowledge enriches when shared. Knowledge is not a static concept; it is a value that can be produced, developed, and transformed.
We know that universities are the most valuable source of knowledge. Universities are institutions that guide industries under the guidance of science, adding intellect and innovation to production.
As the Ordu Commodity Exchange, we attach great importance to the process of transferring this knowledge to the field, to producers, and to industrialists. Because producing with the right knowledge is just as valuable as production itself.
Hazelnuts are the backbone of our region’s economy. It is just as important to store this product under the right conditions and maintain its quality as it is to produce it. The topic we will address today is precisely an issue that directly affects the efficiency, quality, and competitiveness of our sector. On this occasion, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the distinguished scientist Dr. Yunus Emre Altunç for sharing his knowledge and experience with us.
I would also like to express my gratitude to the esteemed managers of the Ordu University Hazelnut Application and Research Center, who spearheaded this collaboration, on behalf of our sector. As the Ordu Commodity Exchange, we will continue to believe in a vision for the hazelnut sector that advances through science, collective wisdom, and cooperation.
